Kazakhstan to switch to single time zone on March 1

Source: Meduza

On March 1, Kazakhstan will begin using a single time zone (UTC+5) throughout the entire country in accordance with new amendments passed by the Trade and Integration Ministry.

The country currently has two time zones: UTC+5 and UTC+6. Because most of its territory, including cities of Astana and Almaty, use UTC+6, a majority of the country’s residents will have to set their clocks back one hour on the night of February 29.

Kazakhstan’s new time zone will differ from Moscow’s by two hours.
