Nine reportedly injured in explosion and fire at polyester plant in Russia’s Rostov region

A fire broke out at the Shakhtinsky Polyester Plant in the city of Shakhty in Russia’s Rostov region.

Rostov Governor Vasily Golubev said that there was an explosion at the plant before the fire. He also stated that information about a drone attack was “not confirmed.” “According to the military, air defense systems weren’t in operation at that time,” Golubev said.

The Telegram channel Mash published a video of the explosion at the plant.

According to Golubev, nine people were injured in the explosion and subsequent fire.
