Russian colonel sentenced to six years in prison for failing to defend Crimean Bridge from drone attacks

A Russian court sentenced Colonel Sergey Volkov, former head of the National Guard’s naval unit, to six years in a penal colony for procuring radar systems that were not suitable for the defense of the Crimean Bridge, reports independent news outlet Mediazona.

The officer was found guilty of abuse of authority, resulting in serious consequences. He is also banned from holding any government positions for a period of two years. The prosecution requested a seven-year sentence.

Volkov pleaded not guilty.
