Three reportedly injured as Russia’s Belgorod comes under fire
Late Monday, Russia’s Belgorod and the surrounding region came under fire, reports Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.
According to him, Russian air defenses successfully intercepted ten airborne targets “on approach to the city.” The Russian Defense Ministry said that RM-70 MLRS were used in the strike.
Three people were injured in the attack and are in intensive care, said Gladkov. He added that authorities would go house-to-house in affected areas to assess the damage.
Belgorod has been regularly shelled after Russian forces launched several massive missile and drone strikes on Ukraine. On December 30, missile strikes killed over 20 people in the city of Belgorod.
On January 5, Gladkov said that authorities in Russia’s Belgorod region would help evacuate residents who wished to leave the city due to recent shelling. On January 8, he reported that 300 people had already taken advantage of the offer.
