Poland says Russian missile likely entered its airspace

Source: Meduza

Poland’s top military official, General Wiesław Kukuła, said Friday that “all signs indicate” a Russian missile entered and then exited Polish airspace as Moscow carried out one of its largest attacks on Ukraine since the start of the war. He added that the military is still investigating the situation.

Earlier, the Polish Armed Forces reported that an “unidentified object” had been detected by the country’s air defense radars. Polish President Andrzej Duda convened an emergency meeting of the National Security Bureau in response.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud whistling sound.

The Polish news network Polsat, citing “unofficial” information, reported that the missile was likely a Russian Kh-22 or a Kh-101 and that it was downed by air defense forces after it returned to Ukraine.
