Alexey Navalny, transferred to prison in Russia’s Far North, fails to appear by video at court hearing

Source: Meduza

Jailed Russian opposition politician Alexey Navalny, who was recently transferred to Penal Colony No. 3 in Russia’s Far North, failed to appear by video call at a court hearing in Russia’s Vladimir region, reports Mediazona.

The judge in the case said Navalny was not participating due to a lack of information about his whereabouts. After Navalny’s lawyer stated that he was in Penal Colony No. 3, the judge asked a Federal Penitentiary Service representative for confirmation. The representative responded that he did not have any information on such matters as his department only covers the Vladimir region.

Eventually, the judge called for a recess and then adjourned the hearing until January 22.
