Kadyrov says it ‘would have been good’ if his son had killed defenseless prisoner instead of just beating him

In his annual live broadcast, Chechen Governor Ramzan Kadyrov said it “would have been good” if his 16-year-old son Adam had killed Nikita Zhuravel, a prisoner who was arrested for allegedly burning a Quran. At the end of September, Ramzan Kadyrov posted a video of Adam beating a defenseless Zhuravel, writing that he was proud of his son.

Ramzan Kadyrov said that there is no reason his son should be punished and that rather, anyone who burns a Quran should be held accountable. He said he does not believe that Zhuravel has repented as he “did not see sincerity in his eyes.” The Chechen governor added that he initially thought his son might face consequences for his actions. However, when he spoke to his son about this, Adam told him it would be “an honor to be in prison,” Kadyrov reported.

Ramzan Kadyrov also noted that he had seen comments on social media about all the awards Adam has recently received. “At his age, he showed heroism, I believe,” Kadyrov said. Since the assault, Adam Kadyrov, who turned 16 on November 24, has been given the Hero of Chechnya title as well as numerous other awards.
