Drones downed in Russia’s Smolensk region, residents urged to remain indoors

Smolensk Mayor Alexander Novikov said that five drones were shot down over the city and its suburbs on the morning of October 1. There were no casualties, he said.

Novikov urged residents of the city “to remain calm and not to leave home unnecessarily.” He also asked residents not to approach the fallen drones or post pictures of them on social networks, as well as not to “comment on the work of air defense systems.”

On the morning of October 1, the Russian Defense Ministry reported three drones downed in the Smolensk region. An hour later, the Russian Defense Ministry reported two more drones shot down in the region.
