Drone attack on Russia’s Kursk region leaves five localities without power

On the night of September 28, Russia’s Kursk region was targeted in a widescale drone attack, Governor Roman Starovoit reported.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, 10 drones were downed by air defenses in the Kursk region, and an additional one was destroyed in the neighboring Kaluga region. The Russian authorities blamed the attack on the “Kyiv regime.”

One of the drones dropped two explosive devices on a substation in the village of Belaya in the Kursk region, causing a transformer to ignite, according to Starovoit. The fire reportedly caused five localities and one hospital to lose electricity.

According to a Ukrainian Security Service source who spoke to the outlet Ukrainska Pravda, the substation was powering “important military facilities.” The source provided a video of the Belaya attack:
