Romanian Defense Minister Angel Tîlvăr confirmed on Wednesday that parts of a Russian drone fell on Romanian territory after an attack on Odesa on September 4.
In a comment to the Romanian CNN affiliate A3CNN, Tîlvăr said the objects were found in the county of Tulcea near the village of Plauru, not far from the Ukrainian border.
On September 4, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry representative Oleg Nikolenko said that during an overnight attack near the Port of Izmail, multiple Shahed “kamikaze” drones fell on Romanian territory and exploded. “Russia’s missile terror poses a huge threat not just to the security of Ukraine but also to the security of its neighbors, including NATO member states,” he remarked.
The Romanian Defense Ministry initially denied the report, saying that Russia’s drone attacks did not pose any direct military threat to Romanian territory.
