Ukrainian Defense Ministry says drone attack on Pskov airport launched from inside Russia
Kirill Budanov, the head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, said Thursday that the drones that attacked an airport in Pskov on Tuesday night were launched from Russian territory.
“We’re working from the territory of Russia,” Budanov told the online outlet The War Zone, though he didn’t specify whether the operation was carried out by Ukrainian intelligence or by Russian partisans.
According to Budanov, two planes stationed at the airport “were destroyed” by the attack and two others incurred “serious damage.” Earlier, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry reported that four Il-76 planes were destroyed and two others were damaged.
The War Zone also obtained a video that appears to be from the infrared camera of one of the drones used during the attack. According to the outlet’s journalists, the footage suggests that the drone was being controlled remotely.
