Belgorod authorities say Ukraine hit border town with cluster munitions
Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of Russia’s Belgorod region, says that Ukraine’s military fired cluster bombs from a Grad rocket launcher at the village of Urazovo, in the Valuysky district. There is no independent confirmation of Gladkov’s claims.
Gladkov reports that the strike injured six people, one of whom is in critical condition.
According to the governor, the strike hit private homes and an agricultural supply store. 16 houses were reportedly damaged, and four outbuildings destroyed, along with two businesses, one social and one sports facility, and four cars.
Gladkov posted photos showing damaged homes and a car with broken windows parked near a gas station. One of the shots shows a small fire.
Belgorod and other Russian regions bordering Ukraine have regularly come under fire since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Shelling in the border areas of Belgorod increased significantly ahead of Ukraine’s summer counteroffensive.
