Kaluga governor says 6 combat drones were shot down in Moscow-adjacent region overnight. Another UAV reportedly downed late this morning.
Writing on Telegram, the governor of Russia’s Kaluga region Vladislav Shapsha reported that six UAVs had been shot down by air defense systems in his region overnight. According to the official, no damage or casualties resulted from the alleged drone attack.
Around 11 a.m. on Thursday morning, Shapsha posted another message, writing that another drone had been downed in the area, once again without any “consequences for the people or infrastructure.”
Russia’s Defense Ministry released its own Telegram statement, describing the overnight incident as a “terrorist attack” attempted by the “Kyiv regime.” The ministry likewise reports that no one has been injured, and no damage resulted from the purported strike.
As of this moment, these reports remain unconfirmed by independent sources.
The region surrounding the city of Kaluga is immediately adjacent to the Moscow oblast, where two drone attacks in the course of last week triggered speculations about Russia’s war with Ukraine possibly entering a new phase.
