Russian missiles strike university campus and apartment building in Kryvyi Rih, killing 10-year-old and at least five others
The Russian military targeted the Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih in a Monday morning missile strike. According to Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, one of the missiles hit a four-story university building. Rescue workers are searching for people that could be trapped under the rubble.
President Volodymyr Zelensky confirms that a missile had struck a university campus. Another missile hit an apartment building, taking out a section between the fourth and the ninth floors. Two people are reported dead at the moment, and 20 more have sought medical help; 5–7 others may possibly be trapped under the debris.
Update: The death toll in Kryvyi Rih has risen to six people, including a 10-year-old child, according to Dnipropetrovsk Governor Serhiy Lysak. A total of 75 people, including six children, were reportedly injured.
Kharkiv and Kherson also came under Russian fire overnight and in the morning on July 31. Kherson Governor Oleksandr Prokudin reports that the Russian military fired Grad multiple rocket launchers at targets in downtown Kherson. Two utility workers have been injured in the strike.
A local official in Kharkiv says that long-range S-300 missile systems were used to target the city, where a warehouse worker has been injured.
