Putin signs law banning gender changes in Russia

Vladimir Putin has signed a bill into law that bans gender changes in Russia.

In addition to prohibiting gender marker changes in legal documents and gender-affirming medical procedures, the new legislation makes it illegal for people who have legally changed their gender to adopt children. The law also allows for the annulment of marriages in which one spouse changes their gender marker.
