Russia’s Defense Ministry and Mikhail Razvozhaev, the head of administration of Russian-annexed Sevastopol, said that drones attacked the city in the morning of July 16.

Razvozhaev reported that seven drones were destroyed in various parts of the city. Two drones were shot down over the Black Sea by air defenses “at a great distance from the shore,” said the Defense Ministry. “Another five were suppressed by electronic warfare and crashed without reaching their targets,” the ministry said in a statement. Later on July 16, Razvozhaev reported that another drone had been suppressed by electronic warfare over the Black Sea.

The Defense Ministry also said that “two unmanned boats” were caught and destroyed in the northern part of the Black Sea. Razvozhaev called them “overwater drones.”

The Russian-installed politician said there were no damages to city or marine infrastructure from the “massive and prolonged” attack.

Annexed Crimea regularly experiences drone attacks for which the Russian authorities blame Ukraine’s Armed Forces. Ukraine does not officially confirm its participation.
