The highway between Crimea and Ukraine’s Kherson region saw heavy congestion on Monday after an early morning explosion caused part of the bridge linking the peninsula to Russia to collapse.
According to Russian state media, traffic jams between Crimea and Melitopol spanned between four and six kilometers (between 2.5 and four miles).
Additionally, a long line formed as cars queued up to take the ferry from Crimea to Russia’s Krasnodar region. According to the Telegram channel Shot, passengers had to wait for several hours before boarding the boat.
