Vladimir Putin met with the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov on Tuesday, June 27, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov acknowledged to the press.

Kadyrov has posted a photo of himself and Putin on the social media, writing that he briefed the president on the “socio-economic situation” in the republic, the region’s “achievements,” and its future prospects.

Kadyrov’s post said nothing about Yevgeny Prigozhin’s armed insurrection or the role of the Chechen armed forces in suppressing it.

Yevgeny Prigozhin launched his “march of justice” on June 23. On June 24, Kadyrov sharply condemned the mutiny in progress, calling Prigozhin’s actions a “despicable betrayal” and a “stab in the back” of the state. Several hours later, Chechen formations were spotted en route to Rostov-on-Don, then occupied by Wagner forces.

Peskov himself said nothing about the meeting’s agenda or what Putin and Kadyrov had talked about.
