FSB reportedly still investigating Prigozhin in connection with ‘organizing armed rebellion’ charges
Investigators from Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) are still investigating Yevgeny Prigozhin in connection with the felony case for “organizing an armed rebellion” that the agency opened against him on June 23, according to the Russian newspaper Kommersant.
On June 24, Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the case would be dismissed and that Prigozhin himself would leave Russia for Belarus.
The following day, Russian media reported that the case had been dropped. But accordingn to Kommersant, the case is still under investigation by the FSB as of Monday morning.
A source from the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office told the newspaper that the order to open the case against Prigozhin has not been canceled, saying not enough time has happened for such a change to be made.
