The Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak said that the Russian military fired at a boat evacuating civilians from the Russian-controlled left bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region. According to Yermak, the civilians were able to reach the city of Kherson, which is controlled by Ukrainian forces.

Three people were killed in the attack and more than 20 others were injured, reported Oleksandr Prokudin, the regional governor of Kherson. Those injured were hospitalized. Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, said that the boat was evacuating residents from the village of Kardashynka.

Most of those on the boat were elderly people, reported Ihor Klimenko, Ukraine’s interior minister. Ukraine’s Interior Ministry posted photos of the civilians reported to have been on the boat attacked by Russian forces.

According to Prokudin, Ukraine was able to evacuate 112 people from flooded areas on the left bank of the Kherson region.

The Russian authorities have not commented on these reports.
