Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Russia’s Belgorod region, said that a woman in her 80s died while in the process of evacuating from the region’s Grayvoron district, which armed “Ukrainian saboteurs” reportedly entered on Monday.
“The reasons are being determined now. She was riding on a bus with her son and daughter-in-law,” Gladkov wrote on Telegram.
The governor also reported that as of Tuesday morning, the “clearing of the territory” by Russian military forces and local law enforcement is “ongoing.” He recommended that citizens who have evacuated stay where they are. “We’ll notify you immediately, and I’ll write on social media, and local officials will convey the information, when it’s safe,” he said.
In addition, Gladkov said that at least two civilians were injured in the villages entered by pro-Ukrainian fighters yesterday. According to him, “security forces have been unable to get to them so far.”
