Belgorod governor reports incursion into region by ‘Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group’
Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Russia's Belgorod region, announced Monday that a “Ukrainian military sabotage and reconnaissance group” had entered the region’s Grayvoronsky district.
“Russian military forces as well as the border service, the Russian National Guard, and the FSB, are taking the necessary steps to eliminate the enemy,” Gladkov wrote on Telegram, vowing to report more details later.
Earlier on Monday, Russian Telegram channels posted video footage showing what one channel called “the suspected entry of Ukrainian tanks onto the territory of the Grayvoron border checkpoint in the Belgorod region.”
The Freedom of Russia Legion, a unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces that purportedly consists of Russian volunteers, announced that it and the Russian Volunteer Corps (a group that claimed responsibility for an incursion into the Bryansk region in March) had “liberated [the village of] Kozinka in the Belgorod region” and that its “forward detachments” had entered the town of Grayvoron. Russian pro-war Telegram channels reported that there was fighting in Kozinka but that the city had not been captured.
