Interior minister of self-declared ‘LNR’ Igor Kornet seriously injured in explosion

The interior minister of the self-declared Luhansk People’s Republic (LNR), Igor Kornet, was injured in an explosion in Luhansk, reports Russia’s state media TASS and RIA Novosti.

According to TASS, Kornet was the target of an assassination attempt and was seriously injured. He is now in intensive care. The Telegram channel Mash writes that the explosion occurred in a barbershop in Luhansk.

The head of annexed Luhansk, Leonid Pasechnik, confirmed that an explosion occurred in the center of the city, causing multiple injuries. TASS reports that five people were injured as a result of the explosion.

Igor Kornet has served as the Internal Affairs Minister of the self-proclaimed “LNR” since August 2014.
