Russia launches first drone attack on Kyiv in 25 days

The Russian military carried out a drone attack against Ukraine on the night of April 20–21, the Ukrainian military’s General Staff reported.

Ukrainian air defenses reportedly downed eight of the drones used. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia sent “up to 12 drones,” while the army’s General Staff reported a total of 10.

Shortly after midnight, an air raid alert was declared throughout all of Ukraine’s territory. Kyiv City Military Administration head Serhiy Popko said that Ukrainian forces shot down “about eight” of the drones in the area around Kyiv, and that nobody was injured. According to Popko, this was Russia’s first attack on Kyiv in 25 days.

Poltava Governor Dmytro Lunin reported that Russian drones damaged civilian infrastructure in the region.
