Video of Russian soldiers complaining about commanders followed by apology clip from purported participant
Draftees from Russia’s Lipetsk, Ryazan, and Tula regions have released a new video in which they complain about the treatment they have received from their commanders, according to the independent outlet 7x7.
The video, which was published in a local news group on the Russian social media site VKontakte, shows four soldiers whose faces are covered by masks talking about the “negligence of the command of the 387th motorized rifle regiment.” Among other things, they say that they haven’t received any humanitarian aid donations from their home regions such as equipment to transport injured soldiers, quadcopters, and night binoculars.
The Lipetsk authorities said in response to the video that they delivered the aid that has been donated to the troops, and that they have “never once heard complaints” from the soldiers.
Later, another video was posted to the group in which a man who calls himself “Junior Sergeant Veretennikov” says that he and his fellow servicemen recorded the original video under pressure from a commander, fearing he would hurt them if they refused. The soldier says he’s “prepared to be held accountable” and to “refute these false reports” to the media.
