Saakashvili answers Navalny’s letter of support, calling him Russia’s future president
Mikheil Saakashvili responded to Russian opposition politician Alexey Navalny, who called on the authorities of Georgia to release Saakashvili from prison for medical treatment. Saakashvili published his statement on Facebook.
Saakashvili said he considers Navalny Russia’s future president. He expressed his hope that Navalny, who, like Saakashvili, has been in prison since 2021, “will survive and achieve his desired goal.”
In my opinion, I have two things in common with Alexey Navalny, the future president of whatever remains of Russia in the near future: we are both equally implacable regarding corruption, and we are both major enemies of Vladimir Putin. I wish that Alexey will survive, go free, and achieve his desired goal.
Alexey Navalny has been in prison since January 2021, and Mikheil Saakashvili since autumn 2021. Both men have faced recent health problems.
