Kazan residents report audible explosions outside city. Emergency services say there have been no reports.

Residents of Kazan posted on social media about audible explosions in the area of a tank training ground, writes local publication Inkazan. Journalists for the outlet reported that a column of smoke was visible from the southern part of the city as well as from surrounding villages.

The Telegram channel V Tatarstane Poimut reports two large fires on the city’s outskirts. Witnesses say they heard two explosions, one from the village of Kuyuki and another from the town of Usady.

Regional emergency services told Inkazan that there have been no reports of explosions, “pops,” or fires in the southern part of the city.

The website of the Kazan authorities notes that in October 2022, the tank training grounds in Kazan were used as a collection point for men mobilized to go to war in Ukraine.
