Disturbing footage of conscript abuse emerges from Russian regiment fighting on Kherson direction

Source: Meduza

North Ossetian officials have asked the military prosecutor to investigate the circumstances of a conscript beating captured in a recently emerged violent video.

Vera Adayeva, head of the charitable foundation Victoria’s Heart, published the footage on social media. The recording shows a commander kicking a kneeling conscript in the head, demanding apologies from him, and telling him to buy one of the people behind the camera a “new sleeping bag.”

The governor of North Ossetia Sergey Menyailo points out that 46 conscripts from the region serve in the regiment where the obscene and disturbing footage was recorded. The regiment is part of Russia’s invading forces in Ukraine, taking part in combat on the Kherson direction.

On his Telegram channel, Menyailo insisted that “even in conditions of combat operations requiring strict discipline and allowing for less-than-delicate relations between commanders and fighters, tormenting people is impermissible.”
