The Federal Security Service (“FSB”) has arrested a 16-year-old boy in Russia’s Kemerovo region, in connection with an alleged railway sabotage incident in the area.
The prosecution claims that the teenager had taken orders from an “unidentified person,” setting a railway relay cabinet on fire in exchange for a 5,000-ruble ($61) electronic payment.
The independent media reports that the suspect had allegedly tried to pry open a train relay cabinet, and then set it on fire with a Molotov cocktail. While searching his apartment, the law enforcement, it is claimed, discovered a crow bar with traces of paint from the relay cabinet.
Under the Russian anti-sabotage law, the teen is facing up to 15 years in prison. He is in pre-trial custody.
