Nikulshina was arrested near her Moscow home on June 16. According to the police report, law enforcement had information that the activist intended to disrupt public order and disrupt the events of the Euro 2020 soccer championship in St. Petersburg.

Earlier, on June 12, Nikulshina was detained near Moscow’s Lubyanka Square while recording an interview. She was written up for petty hooliganism and smoking in an area where it’s prohibited.

Among other things, Veronika Nikulshina is known for taking part in an on-field protest called “Policeman Enters the Game” at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium during the 2018 World Cup final.
