Source: Meduza

Moscow police have opened a criminal case for the “sale of narcotics and psychotropic substances” in connection with the investigation into the fatal car crash involving popular Russian actor Mikhail Efremov.

“The fact that unidentified persons sold the driver illegal drugs was established during the investigation,” the statement on the Moscow police’s website says.

On June 8, Russian actor Mikhail Efremov drove his car into oncoming traffic on Moscow’s Garden Ring road, fatally injuring a delivery truck driver.

On June 9, a Moscow court placed Efremov under two months house arrest, after he was charged with driving under the influence and causing a fatal accident. Efremov told journalists that he pleads guilty. He could now face between five and twelve years in prison.
