YouTube has blocked “My Life” (Moj život), a channel run by the Serbian film director Emir Kusturica, the Serbian-language service of the Russian state news agency Sputnik said.

The channel published videos produced in collaboration with Sputnik’s Serbian-language service. In all, it had 243 videos of Kusturica’s performances, programs, and music. The channel had 30,000 subscribers.

Kusturica has repeatedly spoken out in support of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin’s policies.

Since 2020, YouTube has blocked channels that spread Russian propaganda. Most were removed after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The platform also removes channels belonging to celebrities who have come under Western sanctions. Russia’s federal censorship agency, Roskomnadzor, has throttled YouTube speeds in the country — a move linked in part to the mass blocking of Russian channels.
