Russian artist Artem Loskutov is auctioning off a work of art online in support of the television network Dozhd and other media outlets that the Russian authorities have labeled “foreign agents.”
The art piece, titled “Pink on White,” is inspired by the Dozhd logo and was created using Loskutov’s signature artistic technique, “Dubinopis” (painting using the blows of a truncheon). In his announcement on Instagram, Loskutov wrote that the painting is “dedicated to all foreign agents.”
The auction is taking place on Artem Loskutov social media accounts. The bidding, which started at one ruble ($0.014), is set to end at 10:30 p.m. Moscow time (3:30 p.m. EST).
In May 2021, Artem Loskutov auctioned off a painting based on Meduza’s logo that was also created using his “Dubinopis” technique. Earlier, in August 2020, he used this technique to create an art piece that was auctioned off in support of protests in Belarus. An anonymous buyer bought the painting for 3 million rubles ($40,770).
