Russian forces attacked Kyiv’s South Bridge with drones three times in 24 hours. The bridge, which carries road traffic and subway trains, is closed. The city administration said that, according to preliminary information, “a bridge pier, guardrail, road surface, and protective concrete slab for the subway line were damaged.” On the morning of October 2, traffic was restricted on the Paton Bridge in the direction from the right bank to the left bank, as well as on the Metro Bridge. Massive traffic jams formed across the city. On the afternoon of October 2, the Paton Bridge reopened in both directions, but for now it can be accessed only from Mykola Mikhnovskyi Boulevard. The Kyiv Defense Council will hold an emergency meeting to discuss traffic arrangements on the bridges connecting the city’s left- and right-bank districts. There is no vehicle tunnel under the Dnipro River. The photo shows traffic blocked on the approach to the South Bridge on October 2, 2026.
