Kremlin says it’s ready to resume trilateral talks but sees little ‘useful’ in new proposals from Ukraine and the EU

Source: Yuri Ushakov

The Kremlin is ready to resume trilateral talks between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine in mid-November, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said. He spoke after President Vladimir Putin met with Steve Witkoff in St. Petersburg on October 21.

Putin told Witkoff this during their meeting, according to Ushakov. He added that Russia is ready to resume talks “on the main topic,” which “concerns building a security system for Russia and Ukraine after the conflict ends.”

Witkoff, for his part, raised “new approaches” from the European Union and Kyiv, Ushakov said, but “there wasn’t all that much that was useful in them in terms of settling the Ukrainian crisis.”
