Trump calls on Ukraine to replace Zelensky

Source: Donald Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters on October 10 that Ukraine needs to find a new president who can “make a deal.”

“You know what I suggest? I suggest they get a new leader who could make a deal because he could’ve made many deals and for some reason he never does… I think it’s time for Ukraine to get a new President.” Trump said.

Trump said the U.S. told Zelensky, “You can do whatever you want to Russia,” but also told him not to strike oil refineries because that was “a world problem.”

“And what does he do? He goes and hits the diesel fuel. He better damn well stop,” Trump said.

Trump criticized Zelensky a day after reaching an agreement with Vladimir Putin on supplying Russian diesel fuel to U.S. and global markets. The U.S. and Russian presidents spoke by phone the day before. The U.S. Treasury Department soon issued a temporary license allowing Russian diesel fuel to reach the global market in circumvention of U.S. sanctions, until April 7, 2027.

Ukraine criticized the diesel deal between Moscow and Washington. Zelensky said that Russia’s decision to allow oil product sales “is an investment in the war.”
