United Russia failed to win the most votes at most overseas polling stations in cities that have become major hubs for Russian emigres since the start of the full-scale war, according to Agentstvo, an independent Russian investigative outlet. Agentstvo reached that conclusion after analyzing Central Election Commission data on voting results from 27 polling stations abroad.
New People finished first in 18 of the 27 locations. At many of those stations, United Russia didn’t even place second, coming in third behind New People and KPRF. New People’s widest margins came in Almaty, Barcelona, The Hague, Da Nang, Salzburg, Ljubljana, Prague, and Tel Aviv, where it took more than 50% of the vote.
United Russia won in nine of the 27 cities, including Baku, Bishkek, Riga, Istanbul, Sofia, and Hanoi. In Sydney, the race was nearly a dead heat, with United Russia taking 31.66% to New People’s 31.35%.
Overall, United Russia had won 39.58% of the vote at overseas polling stations as of 2 p.m. on September 21, with New People taking 24.49% and KPRF 16.99%. The Central Election Commission has not yet published results from all overseas polling stations.
Inside Russia, the picture is reversed: with 93% of ballots counted, United Russia leads with 58% of the vote. Russia’s Communist Party (KPRF) is in second place with 14%, followed by LDPR with 9%, New People with 8%, and A Just Russia with 5%.
