Russian guided bombs hit apartment building in northeastern Ukraine, killing two city council employees
Russian forces struck a multistory apartment building in Sumy with guided aerial bombs, killing two people, Oleh Hryhorov, the head of the Sumy regional administration, said.
Seven other people were injured, among them a 13-year-old girl, he said. Three are in serious condition.
Sumy Mayor Artem Kobzar said the people killed in the strike were employees of the city council.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the bomb struck directly between the third and fourth floors. “Right now, the United States has a chance to send the aggressor the right signal: that there will be justified pressure and that the war must come to an end. We expect Senator Lindsey Graham’s bill to ultimately become law, and for its leverage to help force Russia to choose peace,” he wrote.
