The Kremlin declined to say whether it would stop striking Ukraine’s economic infrastructure if Kyiv halted its attacks on Russian oil refineries.
At a September 14 briefing, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was asked about Donald Trump’s call for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to stop striking Russian facilities that produce diesel fuel.
“Of course, we welcome any call for the Kyiv regime to stop striking civilian economic infrastructure,” he said.
Asked whether Russia was prepared to halt its strikes on Ukraine’s economic infrastructure in response, Peskov declined to answer.
The U.S. president said a day earlier that strikes on Russian oil refineries were causing diesel shortages and driving up prices. “This isn’t done by the Middle East; this is done by what’s happening with Russia and Ukraine,” he said.
