Russia will allow unrestricted sales of civilian gas masks for the first time in over 30 years
Starting March 1, 2027, Russia will allow certified civilian gas masks, including models for children, to be sold without restrictions, the Emergency Situations Ministry said.
Gas masks had been on Russia’s list of products whose sale is restricted since 1992. In early August, however, Vladimir Putin issued a decree removing them from the list. The decree takes effect in March 2027.
“Until now, our country had no approved standards for personal respiratory protective equipment. Low-quality and counterfeit products were available on the market, some of them imported. Quality will now be monitored,” the Emergency Situations Ministry said.
