Russia charges rapper Noize MC with ‘publicly justifying terrorism’
Russian prosecutors have opened a criminal case against rapper Noize MC (Ivan Alekseyev) under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of Russia’s Criminal Code, which bans the public justification of terrorism, the Moscow Prosecutor’s Office reported.
During one of his concerts, prosecutors said, the rapper “made public statements in which he justified terrorist ideology” and “expressed a positive attitude” toward a “banned” organization that Russia has designated “terrorist.” The statement did not name the organization.
In November 2022, Russia’s Justice Ministry designated Noize MC a “foreign agent.” The musician left Russia after the war began in 2022 and voiced support for Ukraine. He lives in Lithuania and performs concerts in various countries.
