Yabloko’s candidate list removed from ballot in another Russian region, leaving party in just one regional race
A court in Russia’s Tomsk region has revoked the registration of Yabloko’s candidate list for the region’s legislative assembly election, ruling on a lawsuit filed by the LDPR.
The Yabloko press service said the lawsuit relied on “practically the same complaints previously made against the federal list: the distribution of campaign materials through restricted-access resources, alleged violations of intellectual property law, and campaign financing.”
Russia’s Supreme Court struck the party’s federal list from the ballot on August 10, acting on a lawsuit from Rodina that accused Yabloko of copyright infringement and illegal payments for campaign advertising.
Seven Yabloko candidates remain in the Tomsk region race, running in single-mandate districts. But after a string of removals, the party’s regional list now survives only in Novgorod region — down from the eight regions where Yabloko had originally put forward candidate lists.
