Moscow has opened the first section of a new metro line, the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line. Riders have taken notice of the benches at the “Narodnoye Opolcheniye” station — to some, their shape recalls coffins.

“Narodnoye Opolcheniye” is one of three new stations on the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line, along with “Zvenigorodskaya” and “Bulvar Generala Karbysheva.” At the latter, a mural has been installed referencing the ”special military operation.”
The Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line also incorporates two existing stations, “Delovoy Tsentr” and “Shelepikha,” previously part of the Big Circle Line.
In 2023, benches installed during renovations at the “Kakhovskaya” station on the Zamoskvoretskaya line were already being compared to coffins.
