Ukrainian drones hit residential buildings in Russia’s Moscow region and attack Sochi’s sea port
Ukrainian drones attacked Russia’s Moscow region, hitting residential buildings in the towns of Kubinka and Pavlovsky Posad, Governor Andrei Vorobyov said.
In Kubinka, a fire broke out on the eighth and ninth floors of an apartment building on Naro-Fominskoye Highway, and 10 people were evacuated. There were no injuries, Vorobyov said.
Kubinka, part of the Odintsovo urban district outside Moscow, is best known for the nearby Patriot Park. The town is also home to a military airfield used by the Russian Knights and Strizhi aerobatic teams.
In Pavlovsky Posad, a town in the eastern part of the Moscow region, a drone hit a residential building on 1 Maya Street, blowing out windows in several apartments. Residents are being evacuated.
A drone strike also sparked a fire at a factory in the village of Bolshoye Bunkovo, in the Bogorodsky district bordering the Pavlovo-Posad district, Vorobyov said, without specifying which factory was involved.
Vorobyov said 56 drones were shot down over the Moscow region overnight. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin also reported dozens of drones heading toward the capital. The total number of drones downed since midnight reached at least 94.
Ukrainian drones also struck the sea port in Sochi. Monitoring channels have published footage of the resulting fire, though few other details are available. Neither the governor of Krasnodar Krai nor the mayor of Sochi has commented on the attack.
