Bair Tsyrenov, a State Duma candidate for Russia’s Communist Party (KPRF) in Buryatia’s single-mandate district and a deputy in the People’s Khural of Buryatia, aired campaign videos on local television carrying the slogan “Power to the people, peace to the world,” the news outlet Sibirsky Ekspress reported.
In two of the videos, characters pose questions: “When will the SVO end?”, “Why block the internet?”, “How can we live with such taxes?”, “Why is everything getting more expensive?” and “Why do we need the recycling fee?” Tsyrenov appears at the end of the video and asks: “Why don’t the authorities trust us?”
Tsyrenov said the Communists “tried to pack into 15 seconds all the thoughts and questions people have today, since we too have the same questions.”
The Yabloko party had run in State Duma elections under the antiwar slogan “For Peace and Freedom.” Russia’s Supreme Court removed the party’s federal list from the ballot in early August after a lawsuit from competitors, and regional courts subsequently began removing Yabloko candidates who had planned to run in local parliamentary elections.
