Zelensky awards Elon Musk Ukraine’s Order of Freedom — one of the country’s highest honors

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has awarded Elon Musk the country’s Order of Freedom, signing the decree on August 26.

The Order of Freedom ranks among Ukraine’s highest state honors, second only to the title “Hero of Ukraine” and the Cross of Combat Merit, which was created after Russia’s full-scale invasion began.

Musk’s SpaceX also operates Starlink, a satellite network that provides high-speed broadband internet access. Western media reported, citing sources, that Ukrainian officials have been trying to persuade Musk to let Ukraine’s Armed Forces use Starlink to strike targets inside Russia. Musk has not yet granted permission, according to those sources.
