Gazprom Arena keeps rescheduling a Kanye West concert in St. Petersburg, Russia, that it still hasn’t agreed to hold

The Gazprom Arena stadium in St. Petersburg is in talks with the organizers of Kanye West’s (also known as Ye) concerts, the venue’s press service told the Telegram news channel Ostorozhno Novosti and the news outlet Bumaga.

On August 24, representatives of Gazprom Arena said they hadn’t signed any agreement to rent the stadium for the rapper’s concerts and that the event therefore wouldn’t take place.

Now, though, the venue told reporters that “the only thing is that the dates will most likely be pushed back.”

“The dates will be pushed back,” Gazprom Arena’s press service said. “I can’t give you even tentative dates, but the maximum delay under consideration is six to nine days.” It also asked the musician’s fans “not to worry.”

A source at Gazprom Arena, however, told the St. Petersburg news outlet Fontanka that no talks to reschedule the concerts were underway and that the venue’s position had not changed: the concerts cannot proceed without a signed stadium rental agreement.

West had been expected to perform at Gazprom Arena on October 10 and 11. The organizers said they had sold more than 100,000 tickets. Gazprom Arena and the soccer club Zenit had previously posted announcements of the concerts on their social media accounts.

St. Petersburg outlets said on August 24 that the concerts had not been approved by the authorities and that they had been canceled after “a call from above” out of Moscow.
