Ukraine attacks southern Russia with drones, killing three children, local officials say
Update. Russian authorities later reported that three children were killed in Krasnodar as a result of the strike.
Two children were killed in Krasnodar overnight on August 24 during a Ukrainian drone attack, Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said.
Kondratyev said “drone debris” fell on a private children’s center, injuring seven more children and two adults, and sparked fires at warehouse buildings.
Ukrainian drones also struck three Ozon warehouses in separate regions — Adygeysk, Makhachkala, and Nevinnomyssk in Stavropol Krai — according to the marketplace’s press service.
No injuries were reported in Adygeysk or Nevinnomyssk, and Ozon said both facilities and their goods are “fine,” though the warehouses remain closed for now. In Makhachkala, several people were injured and received medical treatment after a fire broke out; that warehouse is not accepting deliveries, and its goods will be unavailable.
Murat Kumpilov, governor of Adygea, said the attack sparked a fire at an Ozon logistics center in the region’s Takhtamukaysky district.
Dagestan’s acting governor, Fyodor Shchukin, said the fall of “drone fragments” in the republic’s Kumtorkalinsky district caused “a fire at warehouse facilities,” adding that no one was injured.
Authorities in Stavropol Krai stated that air defenses were “repelling an attack” by Ukrainian drones targeting an industrial zone in Nevinnomyssk, though Governor Vladimir Vladimirov did not comment on the aftermath.
