Chinese auto parts deliveries to Russia up 15% over seven months, Kommersant reports

Imports of automotive parts and components from China to Russia climbed roughly 15% over the seven months from January to July, reaching $1.3 billion, according to the Russian business daily Kommersant, which cited data from the car dealer Rolf.

Chinese auto parts now account for more than 50% of overall deliveries to Russia. Rolf called the figures preliminary but noted that they mark a record for the entire period it has tracked and “confirmation that the Chinese segment of the market is growing stronger.”

China’s customs administration has not yet released data for July, but its figures show deliveries rose 14.3% during the first half of the year, from January through June, reaching $1.19 billion.

The most popular parts include filters, brake pads, brake discs, suspension components, and cooling-system parts, Kommersant reported. Prices for spare parts have “risen noticeably” since the start of the year, the newspaper noted. Rolf put the increase at an average of 20–30% and stated that “the conditions for further growth remain in place.”

Experts polled by Kommersant linked the rise in deliveries to the growing number of Chinese cars in Russia that now need servicing. They also said Chinese manufacturers operating in Russia are increasing localization, opening dealerships, and building out service infrastructure.
