Lithuanian defense minister warns of possible Russian strikes on Baltic countries using captured Ukrainian drones
Russia may be weighing strikes on critical infrastructure in the Baltic region, according to Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas, Bloomberg News reports.
Kaunas said Russia could use captured Ukrainian drones to carry out such attacks, aiming to undermine trust in Ukraine and weaken NATO’s support for Kyiv. He stressed that there is currently no “direct threat.”
Lithuanian intelligence officials said Moscow is considering the move because it mistakenly believes Baltic countries have allowed Ukraine to use their airspace for drone strikes against Russia.
Lithuania provides Kyiv with financial and technological assistance, Kaunas said, but does not allow its airspace to be used for military operations.
